The Short Stack

By: Elise Mullin

A short stack often reminds us of breakfast, referring to a stack of pancakes. However, now it also refers to Del Val library’s new, up-and-running blog.
Created at the beginning of the school year by librarian Sarah Penniman, The Short Stack’s purpose is to provide students with reviews of books within the library’s leisure collection, as well as weekly updates on new books or any upcoming events at the library.
Some new books recently added to the blog include Post Secret, Mockingjay, and The Vampire Diaries.
“Students are always asking for book recommendations,” said Penniman.
The library has also created “review bookmarks” for students, faculty or staff interested in writing a review of a leisure book from the Short Stack. On this bookmark, you can write a few sentences about the book, then just leave the bookmark inside the book upon returning it. Each review will be uploaded onto the blog. “This provides the opportunity for everyone to talk amongst each other about book reviews, ratings, and what’s popular,” said Penniman.

The website for the blog is www.dvclibrary.blogspot.com. If you are interested in emailing a review not on a bookmark, send it to library@delval.edu. For more information, you can email Sarah Penniman at sarah.penniman@delval.edu, or just stop in the library.
